SportHelo                    Go to SportHelo.com

The SportHelo is a collapsible, portable, backpack helicopter that is single-person transportable, fully self-contained and deployable, from setup to flight readiness in under 5 minutes. Its projected flight times are anticipated to range from 30 to 40 minutes, depending upon weight and weather factors. It is expected to be able to attain forward speeds of 40 to 45 miles per hour. It was designed to be simple enough in operation to require less than 40 hours of instruction time to fly itn abd to exhibit very stable flight characteristics. It will lift a person of average weight plus up to 60 pounds of baggage.

The SportHelo is of a coaxial design, which, among other things, means that it doesn't need a tail rotor.  In its current configuration it has three 2-stroke gasoline engines that are configured in such a way as to keep the SportHelo flying in the event that one of the engines fails.  It features an electric start system with a pull start backup.  There is also a separate "reserve "tank" for each engine in order to prevent simultaneous fuel starvation. Total anticipated dry weight is under 100 pounds.
